Two chickens in one day

I've been posting a chicken a day over on my Facebook page, but somehow I got off schedule and the blog post is a day behind. So here are two chicken posts in one day (so I don't get anymore scattered brained than I already am :).

I've never been a resolution maker but I think this year I will make few. One of them is to do less, enjoy more! What are some of yours?
Here is your chicken for today :)

Just for fun

A chicken a day until the end of the year.

I hope everyone is having or had a great holiday. As the year comes to a close, remember--“When walking, walk. When eating, eat. When crossing the road, look out for chickens” ~Zen proverb

A sample, links and sale!

Here is a sample of the type of notice you would receive if you sign up for my super duper, super private and not so very annoying email list. So far the most notices I've ever sent out was 4 in a year so your inbox will not be flooded every week or month with notices. I know how annoying that can be!  The notices are about some exciting project, upcoming specials and events that may be of interest.
Here is the link to see the recent notice.
I hope you will take a minute to sign up!
Don't forget my Festivus Sale is going on right now on my Etsy site!
Let me know if you want it gift wrapped and/or a card included.

Also, the links above in the bar across the top of the page are links to my Facebook page, my official web site, and Etsy sale site. Probably too many ways to keep up with my studio work, but I hope there is something for everyone! Thanks for visiting and keeping up with my work!

Wish upon a star

For Brenda, and all you dreamers out there.

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Runaway Bunny

Once there was a little bunny who wanted to run away.
So he said to his mother, “I am running away.”
“If you run away,” said his mother, “I will run after you.
For you are my little bunny.”

“If you run after me,” said the little bunny,
“I will become a fish in a trout stream
and I will swim away from you.”
“If you become a fish in a trout stream,” said his mother,
“I will become a fisherman and I will fish for you.”
“If you become a fisherman,” said the little bunny

“I will become a rock on the mountain, high above you.”
“If you become a rock on the mountain high above me,”
said his mother, “I will become a mountain climber,
and I will climb to where you are.”
“If you become a mountain climber,”
said the little bunny,
“I will be a crocus in a hidden garden.”
“If you become a crocus in a hidden garden,”
said his mother, “I will be a gardener. And I will find you.”

“If you are a gardener and find me,” said the little bunny, “I will be a bird  and fly away from you.”
“If you become a bird and fly away from me,”
said his mother, “I will be a tree that you come home to.”
“If you become a tree,” said the little bunny,
“I will become a little sailboat,
and I will sail away from you.”
“If you become a sailboat and sail away from me,”
said his mother, “I will become the wind
and blow you where I want you to go.”
“If you become the wind and blow me,” said the little bunny,
“I will join a circus and fly away on a flying trapeze.”
“If you go flying on a flying trapeze,” said his mother,
“I will be a tightrope walker,
and I will walk across the air to you.”
“If you become a tightrope walker and walk across the air,”
said the bunny, “I will become a little boy
and run into a house.”
“If you become a little boy and run into a house,”
said the mother bunny, “I will become your mother
and catch you in my arms and hug you.”
“Shucks,” said the bunny, “I might just as well
stay where I am and be your little bunny.”
And so he did.
“Have a carrot,” said the mother bunny.

Can you hear the crickets chirping?

I sure can! It has been quiet over here on my Blog page. It seems I have a hard time keeping up with it as much as I do the Facebook Page. Please visit over there and join in if you can stand Facebook, I know a lot of people do not like it, others love it.
Either way I am happy to have these internet vehicles to share my work with a wider audience.

NEWS FLASH. I will be having an Etsy Sale next week, not sure exactly what day it will start it depends on how long it takes me to put up all the new listings.  Check back and find out and let the elves at the studio do all the packaging and shipping for you while enjoying the discount!

Etsy sale is coming, Etsy sale is coming!

Blue Skies

Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see
Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on...

Five days!

The studio is becoming transformed! Walls are fresh and painted, clay is mopped off the floor, work is getting on the walls and looking good!
Hurricane Sandy has delayed plans for outdoor set up until later in the week. The kiln is cooking with more pieces and keeping the studio toasty warm.

Falcon and Roses

I love before and after pictures. This big wall vase may be the largest one I've ever made and I am really happy with how it turned out.  A clay piece this size is like an accident waiting to happen, so many things can go wrong.   If you work with clay you know what I mean. Drying cracks, glaze malfunctions, kiln heating and cooling cracks, drips, colors shifting, color burning out...and on and on. So time to celebrate!

Run Rabbit Run

I've been glazing rabbits, birds, owls, butterflies and a few hedgehogs. Now they are all snug as a bug in the kiln getting toasty warm.
Open Studio Show is about six weeks away!

raw glazed rabbit plaques, unfired. The colors will change dramatically in the kiln firing, 2000 degrees.
Have you ever heard of a sheep herding rabbit? It gets funnier at about the 2 minute mark.

Kiln Goddess of the Roses will be working hard this weekend.

Making a mural part two

I started this commission a few months ago, remember the four panels from a couple of month ago? It has been a long process with many revisions. Sometimes commissions are challenging! I usually don't work with such specifics being defined by the client, but this one was very special and she wanted it just right for her memories.

I thought I was finished at this point but there will a part three. She wants a fifth panel to add to these four. I'm working on it now and should be finished in next month. Here are some shots of glazing.

And here are the finished four panels, just one more to go!

A look around outside my studio

I have so  many pictures on my camera, what good are they just sitting there? Now I  am determined to get some of them up here and on my  facebook page. Here are some shots from the spring and summer summer outside and around my studio.

I  manage to grow a few flowers..

My frog friend....

So many more pictures....but at least this is a  start!
